FEATURE ASSESSMENT

Big Five at Work

The Big Five or the Five-Factor Model of Personality is the most current, most valid, most reliable means of assessing personality available today. Psychologists are predicting that it will be the primary means of understanding and interpreting personality in the 21st century.

Organizations are using the Big Five in the same ways that they have used other personality assessment instruments. The major difference between the Big Five and many other programs is that it may be used in every area of an organization's functioning. Big Five is an overall tool of choice to handle all organizational personality needs, based on five supertraits.

Participants find that additional detail provided by scores on the five supertraits and the scores on each of 24-30 subtraits are extremely helpful in understanding themselves and others. Additional reports demonstrate how the various supertraits and subtraits are combined into "blended" work behaviors or competencies. These reports offer information from a very broad-brush approach to an extremely detailed level, allowing the individual, team, or organization to access information according to their needs.
